ok so i'll just start it up and put it in reverse release the clutch and push the gas like normal and it will just rev i guess it's stuck in neutral or whatever. this only happen sometimes. and after a bit it pops and then it's fine. it's weird and hard to describe? does anyone know what i'm sayin? is that a sign that the clutch is startin to go bad?

the one time i tried goin forward after what i just described happened....it wouldn't go forward either. just doesn't go into gear. the clutch pedal goes up and down just fine and stick moves just fine just doesn't catch the gears or something.....then....pop.....and it's fine.....what is that? should i worry about it?

  1. If you have a 3 speed column shift or a column shift converted to a floor shift it is probably a worn out shifter. If the trans is a top loader then the problem is internal but I have not had this experience with a top loader before.

    Hope that helped, Good Luck!

  2. that popping noise your hearing is probably the throwout bearing is sticking on the retainer

  3. Definitely you should worry about it! Contact a mechanic.

  4. sounds like the throwout bearing might be hanging up on the trans. front bearing retainer that the throwout bearing rides on or could be a clutch problem, like a bad pressure plate. And yes you should worry about it as it could cause you to have a auto accident. Have it check by a auto shop.
