Okay so I'm now 18 and I am anorexic. I have recently been butting heads with my general doctor and she told my therapist that I would probably be discharged from the practice. Why would they do that and could they even really do it?

  1. if your head butting which is what i think your trying to say then your getting violent to them and they can ban you from the practise because of that

  2. If you do not cooperate in your own healing process and you are fighting with your GP he can without further notice discharge you.

He has every right to do that.

    Space.

  3. Because they have no concern with patients who bring their problems on themselves, that is probably why the doc wants rid of you.

In most places, a doctor can refuse to treat anyone for any reason.

  4. The two main reasons a Physician discharges patients are 1. Non payment or slow payment of the bills, or 2 Non Compliance of the  suggestions or regimen prescribed for you.

If you are "butting heads" with them, that is the reason, you went to them for help as you apparently did not know how to solve your problem. Their education and experience would dictate their  superior knowledge of how to solve your problem.  Butting Heads does not solve problems.

The only obligation the physician has to you or anyone else is to stabilize your condition in the case of an emergency. Certainly the Physician can discharge you if this is not an emergency.
