Why would a mom do this?

Not a big deal, but just wondering. My neighbor keeps socks and shoes on her kids ages 1, 3 and 5 all the time around the house. However she goes barefoot inside all the time. Just wondering if there is any reasoning for doing this. I might ask her one day lol.

  1. My son wears his socks and shoes of his own accord. His 2 and loves to wear his shoes in the house all the time. But as to why her children do. Could simply be out of laziness, when going out. She may not want to bother with putting there shoes on when its time to go out.

  2. I guess it is just her choice. For the five year old, s/he should be able to decide to wear shoes or take them off.

  3. Because she doesn't want her kids feet to get dirty.  She can wash her own feet.

  4. Maybe she doesn't want her kids to pick up the HPV (human pappiloma virus) or maybe she doesn't want them getting scrapes or stubbed toes.

  5. Not really sure why she would do this. My daughter is 2 and is always going around barefoot at home. She actually asks me as soon as we get in from outside to take them off.

I usually take mine off too. It lets our feet breathe and is so much more comfy.

Perhaps your neighbour keeps their shoes on because they like to play in the garden a lot, or she takes them out regular and does not want the hassle of keep finding their shoes to put on them again and again

  6. who knows?  we have a "shoes off" policy in our house and so my kids automatically take theirs off if they go in someone else's.
