as ridiculous as it may seem to you, they're your parents, as stupid as their rules may seem, they're authority and they get the last say.....to avoid being punished, just make sure when you walk in the house, you remember to do everything they tell you to. perhaps, write a check list.

If you really think your parents are ridiculous with their rules, sit them down and talk to them calmy and respectfully - tell them there's a lot on your plate with schoolwork and such, and being in trouble for the smallest things isn't fair and it stresses you out more.

My boyfriend has the same problem, he's grounded for every little thing... but, he lets his pride get in the way, so he doesn't do what they say and gets him grounded more, they're your parents and as stupid as their rules may seem, they DO have the power to ground you :(

My parents used to be very strict with rules and punishments, but after many talks - they've eased up on me... a lot.

Because they are your parents and they want to teach you to remember to put your name on your homework, thus punishing you by not letting you go to the mall. But remember, there is always another day and the mall will always be open. :)

So in essence, you got grounded because you didn't take responsibility for your work. I mean if your name isn't on it, you don't get the mark.

They do it to teach you responsibility. In university and college, you'll be in a class of hundred or more students, the professor isn't going to know you or your handwriting and isn't going to CARE whether you get credit for your work or not. At a job if you don't sign your work, no one is going to care if you get credit for it.

And gosh, it's the mall for one day. I'm sure you'll live. I'm sure your parents are breathing a sigh of relief that you won't be out spending their money.

Things like not putting your name on your homework

or going on yahoo answers to ask stupid questions about your parents parenting methods is the exact behavior (lack of respondsbility) your parents are trying to break you out of by not allowing you to go to the mall.
