I've just watch the famous video on youtube of Christian the lion. ( check it out if you never seen it ) Ive heard so many people saying its impossible to raise a lion and make it docile and everything but those two guys seem like they succeed. So my question is lets say you raise a wild animal from day one. which animal would be the best "pet" (Felidae, Carnivora, apes anything)

  1. Docile: Yielding to control or supervision, direction, or management.

Docile, but that does not mean that it does not have to potential to lash out in a dangerous way.

Pets have been domesticated over hundreds of years to get to the point they are at.

Some people with very extended knowledge of an animals behavior and how to react to different situations can make a wild animal more docile.

So if I were to feel the need to get a wild animal to have as a pet, I would make sure it was no bigger than a large house cat. Although I would never even consider it unless I have the ability to understand and communicate with the animal.

If I had to pick one, I would say a fox. They have been known to make decent pets, if not totally mischievous.

  2. A wild animal will never become domesticated. It is still a wild animal with the potential (which is more often realized than not) to strike out against people.  While people continue to try to raise wild animals in a domestic situation with the hope that they can somehow change the nature of the animal, unfortunately in most cases these end in tragedy, often after years of 'domestic behavior'. Then people mystified by the behavior say the animal struck out with no warning. When in fact the nature of the animal was never changed and the animal did, in fact, provide lots of warning. But the people, expecting a domestic animal and having no respect for the danger these animals pose, ignored the warning and suffered the consequences. Look to sigfreid and roy for a good example.
