Ebid seems to be a lot cheaper than Ebay. With more joining everyday. What do you think about Ebid?

  1. No EBay is market leader by miles. It is full of crooks, which is a real shame as the original idea was great, but like everything else big business takes over, and the fraudsters join. There is a chapter all about buying and selling on line in my rather splendid book!

  2. Unlikely, but you never know.

Do a 'straw poll' of people you know - how many have heard of eBay (even if they never use it) and how many have heard of eBid?

eBid have a worldwide network of sites and lower fees than eBay, but without putting an awful lot into advertising, etc, it's hard to see how they can even begin to think about 'overtaking'  eBay.

If you suddenly found that you needed a *green flexible wooble, 11mmx15mm but could fit smaller *,  where's the first place you'd look for one?

  3. never even heard of ebid?

  4. We can only hope..

  5. I think ebay as we know it is about to end anyway.  Its going to be just like another amazon site with many more shops and buy it now price ranging.  Ebid is obviously just going to be the next generation of auction sites isnt it?  Depends on how they are organising payment and what protection and rules they have in place.

Ebay was brilliant when it started but it is a pale shadow of its former self as far as I am concerned.

  6. I wouldnt of thought so. Ebay has been around for a very long time and is very popular. I'd never even heard of Ebid until reading your question, and just having a quick glance at the site, it seems to be more expencive than Ebay and Ebay looks more welcoming and easy to understand
