Will I get viruses from LimeWire?

Okay lately i've been thinking about installing LimeWire.But i've heard that you get viruses from LimeWire.So should I install LimeWire and risk getting a virus.Or download music from Bittorent.net then again I could just pay for music at Rhapsody.com.Ahh I don't know what to do so I need some help from someone who has experienced downloading LimeWire.

you have to use it wisely. First off don't even look at the stupid things that say "cute girl orgasms on cam" or "bush gets a prank call." Also look at how large files are for songs. If one is alot, alot shorter than the rest. I'm talking 3,125 mb or wtf they're called, and one is 3. Its more than likely a virus. Dont look up p**n. Really that one should be obvious.

Theres also the ever famous thought that the minute you download Limewire, they you are immediately infected with viruses, that may be unleashed at anytime.

You can get viruses if people encode it into what you download. You can also download from undercover government computers which would get you a fine or a small amount of jail time.

Yes you can, the most common viruses are the Music with the title "HOT GIRL HAVING o****m" or another title of the song with no capital letters. They are Trojans. But if you stay away from the songs with those titles, you should be fine. My anti virus always blocks them though. Dont go for p**n on Limewire Either they are full of Viruses.

Just downloading limewire won't hurt a thing.

But, you CAN accidentally download a virus from the limewire program. Just be sure to only download .mp3 files since those can't carry viruses.

So far, I've not had any problems.

But if you see something pop up on the search like "black guys and white girl have shaking o****m during s*x" then don't download it! It's probably a virus!

There is a chance of getting a virus from limewire. Some are disguised as mp3's, some as jpg's and various other formats. Any p2p network has them.

The only thing you can do is have a good anti virus that scans your downloads. Avast has caught a few for me as i was downloading, so it never fully got on my hard drive.

There are a few free anti virus's out there; Avast, AVG, Avira and so on...Pick the one that's right for you before doing the p2p thing.

Limewire is illegal!!

and if u get caught viruses would be the least of your worries

however i have heard that limewire is not that bad if you jus be careful

i personally dont use it however like all other download sites im sure that if you check how many people have downloaded it you will be able to check if it is a virus or not

I've heard a lot about people getting viruses from LimeWire. Infact a bunch of my buddies did.

I definately suggest using torrents for now until the next new thing comes up. Limewire is like the new Napster, just like Facebook is the new Myspace. Get what I mean? Its always the newer programs you can feel safer about. Also, A lot of torrent sites have reviews and notes and etc telling you if things are safe or not to download.

*Seeds are people you can get the file from, leachers are people like you who are downloading the file. More seeders means faster download, for the most part.

*If you're into anime, I suggest boxtorrents.com

LimeWire will not give you viruses, however it is illegal to download them without paying for them by Copyrighted companies.  Most people, however, don't get caught, but if you do by random checks, you could get sued millions of dollars over stupid downloads.  I use LimeWire, I do NOT get viruses, and don't worry about getting sued =] Theres like a 1 in a million chance of that lol

Listen to one who has been using limewire for many years and I can assure you, that limewire does not have viruses, but yes, you can get viruses when you use p2p programs like limewire.

The problem is, that there are a lot of fake ( dummy) files, pretending to be a song or movie.

When you do a search for a song or movie, you always see a lot of those very small files. Files much too small to be a song or movie. So it therefore very likely that those small files are the fake files.

Start your downloads with files larger then 2500/3000kb.

Nothing is completely save, therefore make sure your anti virus is up to date
