Question:

Will I need a mens board?

Hello! I am interested in buying a snowboard but wondering if I would still be able to buy a womens board. My shoe size is a womens 10.5, and I'm not sure but womens snowboards seem to usually come pretty narrow. I weigh close to 130 pounds and I'm 5'9.5 (almost 5'10)

Also, what size board would be best for me? I'm freeriding, but may move into park stuff soon.

Thanks!

  1. I don't think you will need a men's board - but that is one possible way to go. There isn't that much difference anyway except for graphics and colors. Sometimes you can get really good deals on the women's boards - especially the smallest and largest sizes. I think that the Ride Rapture and the K2 Skyla in the longer lengths should be wide enough for you.

Check out this calculator for an estimate board width and then check out the boards that it suggests.

Also, a binding with some built in "lifters" will allow you to ride a narrower board than if the boot are right down there on the deck.

    Good Luck

  2. you could really go either way. like tahoe t said before k2 skyla in the longer length would be a great board or a longer burton stigma. as for bindings, you would obviously have to get a larger size, i have a buddy who rides my board and finds it fine (he is a mens 10 which is a ladies 11.5) and i have a 148 stigma. the extra length would add a little more to the waist. As far as boots go, you gotta try them on. every boot is made a little different. also depends on pading/ warmth. a warmer boot may only need 1 sock and a thinner one may need 2. so grab your socks and hit a store. also be careful about boots vs. bindings. since all boots are made differently try to figure out which boot you want/which binding you want and settle on it. i had a friend pass on a pair of burton cartels for $120 (canadian) cause he tried on a boot in his size at a tore and they were too big for the binding but his actual boots were much smaller.

  3. No such thing as a man board. IF ur in the park u want a shorter board for more control over tricks.
