Will shaking hands wipe out mankind?

I live some time in thailand and I see more and more people shaking hands which gives bacteria and viruses a easy ride traveling from person to person. You also not know what these people touched before ;)

This idea has been tossed around by doomsday sayers.  Fortunately scientists have come up with a revolutionary strategy to prevent infection from handshaking.

It's called washing your hands.  Do it if you're unsure where someone's hands have been.

No I don't think so.  Our bodies have very good protection against organisms.  The skin is a great protective barrier against germs.  The antibodies in our systems fight any foreign material.

If we would experience an epidemic, then close contact should be curtailed but not on a routine basis.

American presidential candidates shake hands with thousands of people at a stop. They use hand sanitizers now, but in the old days, they obviously did not have them, and they survived. I think basic, simple hygiene and precautions are sufficient.
