i'm a Pens fan but i don't know that they will embarass detroit. for one thing like another person said, dallas is still in the picture. i'm no fan of detroit but that doesn't mean they suck. i will be rooting for the Pens though.

Even though im in Michigan I like the Eastern teams and im hoping that the Penguins will win the Stanley Cup and they were the team that i was going to root for so lets go Penguins!

Neither team would embarass the other.  It's going to be a very close matchup.

But the difference is in goal.  Osaverage hasn't faced a team with as many weapons as Pitt, and Fluery is playing SICK right now.

Embarrass?  I don't know, but I might actually (ewwwwwww - shudder shudder - I feel like I need to soak in the shower for saying this) root for them to win!  That 6-0 blowout was very difficult to watch, but when the dust is settled, I'm glad my Flyers made it this far after being in the basement last year.  The Pens actually earned my respect.

That's funny.  What's embarassing is the quality of the teams in the East.  Pittsburgh wouldn't be able to beat the top 6 teams in the West, probably not even the top 10 in a 7 game series.  Especially not 3 rounds.

Little known fact outside of Pittsburgh:

Since the Pirates lost the 1927 World series to the Yankees, only 1 Professional Pittsburgh sports team (In the  major 4 sports, MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL) has lost in the championship of the league. That would be the Steelers in Superbowl x*x.

The Pirates are 3-0 since (1960, 1971, 1979)

The Pens won both previous times they made it to the Stanley cup finals (1991 and 1992)

The Steelers have won 5 out of 6. (Superbowls IX, X, XIII, XIV, and XL)

We don't have an NBA team.

I doubt it. I think their "greatness" has been inflated by poor competition. Frankly, Ottawa was the worst team in the playoffs this year, and the Rangers and Flyers just didn't play well. The Western Conference simply has more competitive teams.

That said, the Pens obviously were the best in the East. I am not saying the opposite will happen. Ultimately it is an unknowable question.

They might, but Detroit has to beat Dallas first, and the Stars are getting more and more motivation with each win :)

The Wings have to beat Dallas first. The Pens can embarass the Stars, but Detroit is another story.

In the same way the Senators embarrassed the Ducks... The only thing I think the Penguins have going for them is the fact that the red Wings really didn't have to face anyone tough just yet... Dallas did that for them. That said, the Penguins have not faced anyone either.

Do you watch hockey? Are you going to embarrass yourself asking this question? I'm a Penguins fan but come on unless the Stars injure some Red Wings or wear them out that much the Penguins are likely in for a tough series against them. The Red Wings are good.

Not sure the Wings will even be there..........I hoping for the Pens and the Stars,,,,Repeat of the Pens and Stars in another cup meeting,,,,only difference was the Stars were in Minny then,,,not Dallas....but Modano was there then and still is..............
