Do you think that wimbledon is a tad anachronistic, merely a tourist pull for what foreigner's like to think Englishness is, a small green island locked into a victorian past? I mean GRASS and lots of RAIN - all england tennis club get clay and get a roof!

  1. They are getting a roof and no they should not change their surface

Wimbledon is still considered by many many people as the most prestigious tennis tournament ever. And the uniqueness of  playing on grass is a huge part of what makes wimbledon so prestigiuos. If it changes surface, wimbledon wouldnt be half as prestigious as it is today

  2. NO WAY!!!

It is the greatest tennis tournament in the world, so what if it is steeped in the past with a bit of Victorian snobbery thrown in, that's what makes it so great, the only bad part about is that the British don't have anyone good enough to get to the final.

It would be terrible for the game if they did what you suggest, it would lose a lot of coverage and interest, Wimbledon is one of the very few English traditions left, lawn tennis is the original tennis and England is the birth place of the game, it would be sacrilege to even consider making any changes, the weather can be uncertain but is more often good than bad.

Long live Wimbledon and lawn tennis!!!

Now please let me get back to my strawberrys and champagne you terrible oik!!!
