Window Air conditioner Problem?

It is a Kenmore 10000 BTU it causes my bedroom lights to go really dim every couple minutes and it dont get really cold but the fins on the back are bent bad would that make it power surge what could it be i just bought it from a person

Sounds like the compressor is running with high head,short cycling,or both.Lights dimming are typical with a window unit just not every 2 minutes.

You can get a fin tool at the hardware store and a heavier breaker for that circut should fix your problem.Good luck.

straighten fins check coils clean filters check amps needed for unit and at panel for overload on circuit are you using an extension cord ? that could cause a drop in volts needed

You need to straighten out the fins in back! Its causing unit to overheat. Buy a fin tool at your local hardware store to make it easier!
