I have Windows XP installed on my pc. I tried to install a game onto it, and in the process, in instillation got messed up. So I tried to uninstall it, and it took the game off the computer, but it still thinks that the game is installed onto it. So when I try to install it again, it keeps saying would you like to uninstall the game. I went to add/remove programs to remove it, and after I do, it says, "Sucessfully removed" but still stays on. I've tried it many times, and even rebooted the computer. Please Help to uninstall/remove it!

  1. may be some of the files of the game may not have been deleted

eg: save game files etc....if u still cannot remove it then no other way reinstall windows XP

  2. Hi

Before installation a new game you should read the requirements of this game ( about the video card, memory and so on)

maybe some of this configurations of your computer don't meet these requirements

So, in order to avoid the re-installation of your XP, you can Restore you system from Help and Support Center and indicate the date on the calendar (date before installation of this game)

Computer will forget every events after this date and  about this game

( maybe my english isn't good, but I hope you will understan my advice, it is the best way to manage this problem)

  3. Trash your computer and buy a Mac for YOURSELF.

  4. Re-boot your computer and see if the program is gone.  If it is still there, try a "System Restore" to a date before you installed the game.

    Good Luck,

    Ed

  5. Try using another method of uninstalling - my favourite cleaner for Windows was 'crapcleaner' CCleaner. Download it, and take a look with that - it will remove rubbish from your drive (a lot of which never goes in the recycle bin) and check your registry, also check startup programs and has an uninstaller.

The most basic way to remove software is to browse for it - press WINDOWS+E and then browse to 'C:/program files/MYGAME folder. It maybe under the name of the manufacturer or the game (example, The Settlers installs under 'ubisoft' folder).

Find it and delete the folder using SHIFT and DELETE together. Afterwards, clean up the registry again.

  6. Sometimes when you uninstall a program, corresponding entry in the Add or Remove Programs listing may not be removed. This may be due to incomplete uninstall or poorly designed uninstaller itself. many uninstallation processes leave behind lots of junk data and redundant registry entries. the problem you have is most probably due to a registry entry. there are many freeware softwares which will do the job of cleaning up the registry for you. the best i have ever used is "Eusing Free Registry Cleaner". it's a small app which will scan your registry for errors, invalid entries etc and clean it up. it can be freely downloaded from CNet:-

    http://www.download.com/Eusing-Free-Regi...

if you choose to remove those entries manually, here's the procedure:-

To manually remove the orphaned entries from the Add or Remove Programs applet, follow these steps:

        * Click Start, Run and type regedit.exe

        * Navigate to the following key:

            HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Uninstall

Each subkey represents a program that you've installed. To determine which program that each key represents, click the key, and then view the DisplayName value data in the right pane

        * Select the subkey that you want to delete

        * Right-click on the subkey and choose Delete

        * Close Registry Editor

i would also recommend a program called 'ccleaner' to keep your pc clean and running smoothly:-

    http://www.download.com/CCleaner/3000-21...

  7. I think you should clean registry because when you installed the game, the information was kept there.

The program Error Doctor, you can find here http://www.errordoctor2008.com

auto scans the registry for all types of errors. Automatic Scan is recommended for 'non-technical' users. After the scan will be completed, you will see a full list of errors with details, and you will decide fix individual invalid entries or all invalid entries of a certain type. Besides, you will have good Antivirus Software on your computer.

  8. You should search for a "registry cleaner", there are many available on the internet for free. Clean your system with it, and the game would install. I'd recommend http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Regis...

  9. If you can't remove it, try deleting the folder in C:\Program Files.

  10. Click Start -> All Programs -> Right click on the game's name -> Select Delete -> Go to Recycle Bin -> Select Empty Recycle Bin

    Now reinstall the game
