  1. its a matter of opinion, vista is slower then xp, but it have more fancier look, most professional/advance users prefer xp, but most home users usually like vista (vista looks nicer)

  2. BAD it only looks good it is completely pointless

  3. Not many will sell you PC with XP, Vista is nasty, just search and see how many people had to downgrade to XP, the latest resarch shows that almost 33% of people purchased Vista downgraded to XP.

  4. Yeah If you buying a new computer you have no choice really to get Vista unless you got to a computer shop and have it specially built from the ground up.

In My opinion XP is better just like the rest said you will have better performance and less hassle with XP but if you want give Vista a try and see if you like it. You really cant rely on what others think if you have never used XP before (and i mean really use XP and all its functions) then you wont have anything to compare it to so Vista might work for you and might just fit into your liking.

If not then you can purchase XP and install that on your computer and  run XP if Vista for some reason isnt your cup of tea.

XP is no longer being made by microsoft so the OS discs will be alot cheaper these days.

  5. I prefer xp. but am ok with vista.  Vista computers are going cheap at present if you look around.  A new something or other to make us all spend more is supposedly coming out next year.

I found an xp when looking for a new computer, but there was a wait and it was £100 dearer than a Vista with a larger screen.

You can get xp on very small screens fairly easily.  I believe to make us buy the latest Microsoft are limiting the screen size xp can be installed  on.

  6. I don't like the dominance of microsoft so anything with that name is 'bad' to me. It means they deliberately inflate prices of their products.

If you don't like VIsta you could try Ubuntu but it's not compatible with a lot of microsoft software but there are alternative open source programs you can use.

Vista itself is not as bad as it's made out to be - but I really think it's an unnecessary 'upgrade' .  Most of the stuff it does XP can do, if not better, as XP allows you to run older programs but Vista tends to have problems with that.

  7. I BOUGHT A QUALITY NEW LAPTOP WITH WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM FITTED, I TRIED TO DOWNLOAD YAHOO, WINDOWS LIVE AND SKYPE THAT I USE ON MY PC, WELL, WHAT A MESS, YAHOO MESSENGER WOULD NOT WORK PROPERLY, AND I COULD NOT DOWNLOAD  WINDOWS MESSENGER, THE ONLY ONE I COULD USE WAS SKYPE. I TOOK IT BACK TO SERVICE SHOP, AND GOT IT BACK WITH VISTA ULTIMATE FITTED, AND WORKING FINE, I WAS TOLD THAT HOME PREMIUM WOULD NOT SUPPORT THE 3 MESSENGERS,ONLY THE MORE EXPENSIVE VISTA.  I`VE GOT XP PROFESSIONAL ON MY DESK TOP AND IT``S GREAT. VISTA, A BIG DISSASTER
