  1. 'i know the processor is not dual core but if it was it would be half eg. 2.66 ghz would be 1.33 ghz dual core and my friends dual core 1.2ghz laptop runs vista basic'

WTF?  2.66Ghz dual core means its running two of them in one processor. Why are you having it?

  2. Yes, more RAM will at least help. Vista needs at least 1GB, and will not run well with less than 2GB.

  3. You will need at least 2gb ram or more to run vista smoothly. You have to have a fast processor to be able to run smooth, better with 10000rpm harddrive. Some software not compatible with vista so bear in mind, normally people program the webpage, XP only.

  4. As people have already said, yes its RAM. Although the so called experts often say you need 1gb in reality 2 should really be the minimum and if possible 4 especially for people who run  games and videos etc. Possibly also you have just too many applications running on start up so I would see if you can remove the unnecessary ones.

  5. Get more ram - Vista needs atleast 2GB to run efficiantly. So, yes I think that will solve your problem.

  6. more ram is the answer. vista loves heaps of ram

  7. you need more ram

    get two sticks of 2g

also you should get a new processor

    quad core

move up to atleast 200gig harddrive

video card is fine for now i guess

    also vista is realy crappy

its uselless and its made for the inexperienced computer users

    you need xp

runs smoother and is just so much better

xp sp.3 is what you need

  8. Your computer is not much good for running Vista, and the basic version is no better than XP.
