Windows xp problems, two questions!?

Question

alright so I just reinstalled my whole computer, and now

1. my sound doesn't work, i've searched on here about that problem, but I CAN NOT get online to get any sound cards or whatever they were talking about. my speakers came with my computer, and i don't know about anything about that.

2. everything on my computer is reallllly big. like HUGE. I've tried going to desktop properties/settings and tried messing with the (whatever number x whatever number) but it won't move. as in the little thing that moves, doesn't. it's realllly irritating and i can't deal with the huge screen anymore.

as of right now, i don't have any internet access, and i don't really have any cds for my speakers or anything.

please please please help.

well, when you reinstalled windows on your computer,  you didnt for some reason install the drivers for the sound card, and proably the video card which is why everything is so big. You need to know which cards (Sound and video) you have and install drivers for them. If you dont have internet on that pc yet, download them using this pc from the internet and run them on the pc you just worked on. Use a memory stick, memory card, or whatever.

When you install XP it doesn't install audio drivers. You have to do that yourself. Althou XP puts generic video drivers in they sometimes are crappy depending on what graphics solution you have. Install audio and video drivers and both problems will go bye-bye. If you dont have the drivers on a CD then you'll have to use a rig you can go online with and get them. Should have the drivers handy before you install or reinstall the OS.

1) Make sure that the speakers are plugged into an electrical outlet and the computer. If its all connected properly, go to the icon bar in the bottom right corner. Click on the icon that looks like the speaker. Make sure the bar is not all the way down. If your sound still isn't working, go into a music program ( iTunes, Yahoo! Music Player, etc. ) and make sure the volume on that program is up. If it still doesn't work, you might need to purchase a sound card that goes inside the computer. You might need to reinstall the sound drivers.

2) On my computer, all what you need to do to fix this problem is:

Right Click (On Desktop) > Properties > Settings (Tab) and mess around with the screen resolution bar. If that doesn't work, click the "Advanced" button, by the "Trouble Shooting" button. Check out all the tab and mess around with the settings on all of them.

You need drivers.  Should have burned the drivers to a CD or copied them to a USB flash drive before you wiped your system.  You need to download the drivers for your soundcard, videocard, and network card.  Then you need to put them on some kind of storage medium you can access with your virgin system and install them.

downloading and installing drivers is usually not a big problem. You can usually go onto the computer manufacturer's website and search for your exact model and download them all.

However, your problem is that you cant get online to get the drivers. If you have a laptop, and were connecting to the internet wirelessly, you could try connecting using a networking cable. If that doesnt work or you were already using a cable, you could probably download the drivers on another computer, put them on a flash drive and then transfer and run their installers applications on your computer.
