Hey, i have a linksys router on my PC, which is about 100 feet away from my room. In my room, i have another PC and a mac laptop. I have VERY bad connection here. But i sometimes take my laptop to where the router is, and the internet speed doesnt seem to get any better... could it be the router? It's one that comcast gave me..

What is the best wrt54g out there? I know there are alot of versions.. could this solve my problem?

Could it be that it's that i'm using a mac?

  1. its prob that ur using a mac

  2. NEVER use the router that your ISP gave you. They are notoriously cheap and crappy. Your best bet is to get a regular modem and hook up a separate Linksys router to it.

  3. Huh? My 2 macs and 9 windows machine blaze away at 200Mbps. We have great dsl.

We put linksys in the closet after filling a notebook with fixes.

I plugged in my airport express and hooked up all 11 machines in 55 minutes.

Everything has worked great since linksys went in the closet.  We have NO notebook full of fixes for the APPLE airport express because NOTHING  has EVER needed fixing.

It is not the mac.  I see nothing but grief about linksys.

But I have only read 5,000+ questions this summer.  Maybe some will say something good about linksys someday. ;)

  4. The more computers that you have on a network at once, the slower they all are.
