Wireless router G or N?

I want to upgrade my wireless router and currently my wireless router is B. My internet connection is 8 mbbs under starhub plan. I am using macbook air now and is it necessary to go for wireless N ? the price for N is double than G. G router cost $80 while N cost $160. Going to get soon

First you really have no need to buy a router for more than $90.  $160 is way too high.  If you would like to have a robust router that is an N and regarded as fastest, the DIR-655 from D-Link is on everyone top review list-it was $120 and now it's $90.  With respect to a G.  If that's what you want, no more than $60 tops.  The top router in that category is the Linksys WRT54GS.  Not only is it a greater router, people like hacking into it and turning it into a far superior router.  http://lifehacker.com/software/router/ha...

    For a mac Air, you are going first class and should get an N router


  2. N is still not standardized. It is split between 5.8GHz and 2.4GHz. SOMEDAY if they ever finalize the standard, I would go with N. Until then, go with something you know is standardized, G.
