I am about to start building a pool house, but then I had a thought. Do I need to work with an electrician while I am building or can I call him/her after the structure is complete? Thanks in advance.

  1. Talk to an electrician before you start. He will want to wire it after you've got the frame up, and probably will have a few good suggestions.

    Good luck.

  2. Well it would probably be easier for the electrician to wire you pool house with open studs, Why drywall (if you are drywalling) for the electrician to rip it off again. Let him do his work while the frame and the plywood of your house is up, then you can finish it off, good luck with the project..

  3. If it is a stand alone structure not connected to the house, be sure to provide a way to get power there, like a conduit. And if you do use conduit, make it big enough to pull wire through at least 1 1/2" with sweeps at the bends.

  4. I never sign off on  jobs done by DIY'ers as one lawsuit could destroy my business.  If the job has a lot of unskilled labor (drilling holes, running romex, digging a trench, etc.) I will let the owner help while I'm doing the other work.  I can't imagine a pool house has very much of that.  Larger contractors won't allow any unskilled help.

  5. It depends on your construction method. if its just a exterior shell, the electrician can  install all conduit exposed and do it after your built. if your having interior surfaces it's nice to install wires and conduit inside during construction..
