Wiring between subs and amp?

I have 2 12"s and 1 channel amp. I disconnected my subs and put them back in and i wasnt sure how the wiring was supposed to be. There is 1 red wire connected to the postive on the amp and 1 yellow wire connected to the negitive on the amp. Then on my sub box there is a red and a black terminal. Do i put the red wire on the red and the yellow on the black...or the other way around.

I tried both ways and my subs work both ways, i was just wondering what was right?

the first way, red on red, yellow on black.

The subs work both ways, but if you noticed, when you had them backwards, the subs were hitting backwards, which will blow them.

so yes, it works both ways, but only one is right.

It actually doesn't matter that much.  Changing the terminals might make a difference in the way your subs sound in combination with the rest of the speakers in the system, or it might make no audible difference at all.  You certainly won't damage anything by connecting them backwards.

In general, the positive terminal on the amp should be connected to the red terminal on the sub box.  But if it sounds better to you reversed, then go ahead and reverse it.
