Wodden speakers?

Question

You know those speakers in the huge wooden boxes from a long time ago? Do they have good bass? If so, where can I find some? I would like like 4 or something. I also need an idea for what kind of receiver I can get that is extremely cheap. If possible, send some sites that have cheap wooden speakers. And some sites with some cheap skeaker receivers.

The tweeters, woofers, etc. inside of those speakers are what give a good sound. The wood is just the enclosure. The reason (most) people say wooden speakers are good is because they have good hardware inside of them. The wood was common before even on bad speakers, but now wood is typically only found on expensive ones.

Wood "colors" the sound by vibrating. It's particularly effective with bass speakers but the outcome is often muddy sounding bass.

Shop at ebay and stick with brands you recognize. The engineers will have corrected the muddy effect on good speakers.
