The Bayer Leverkusen CEO has lashed out at the club fans following the sacking of former manager Robin Dutt at the weekend.
Bayer Leverkusen chief, Wolfgang Holzhauser, has criticised the club fans for being impatient with Robin Dutt. The CEO believes that the fans reaction is unacceptable and therefore these situations must be avoided in the future.
Holzhauser admitted that Werkself have been in disappointing form of late and Dutt failed to live up to expectations at the BayArena. However, he insisted that the supporters must have avoided such reaction at the manager’s sacking
as it will leave a negative image of the club.
The chairman stated that it feels really bad when an individual is booed by the whole stadium and urged the fans to show respect.
While addressing Express, the BayArena Chief further added: "Imagine for a moment how it feels to be mocked by 28,000 people. This went too far. We need to think about why we did not recognise certain things soon enough."
This situation arose after Leverkusen’s weekend game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 skipper and Sami Hyypia was handed the managerial responsibilities
until the end of this season.
Dutt took over the charge at the club in 2011 but found life difficult since returning from the winter break. Now, the 47-year-old has been forced to part ways and Hyypia has been entrusted with the responsibility to book a place
in Europe.
The 38-year-old retired from professional football as a Leverkusen player in 2011 after making 53 league appearances for the club during his two-year stay. He also bagged three goals during the process.
Leverkusen have failed to win any of their last five games in all competitions and have lost twice at home to the likes of Freiburg and Borussia Monchengladbach. As a result of this slump in form, Werkself have fallen down to the
seventh spot with 40 points, 11 points behind the fourth-placed Monchengladbach.
They will next be in action against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 at the Imtech Arena on Sunday, April 8.
