English Premier League side, Wolverhampton http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 is seeking to sign MLS outfit Real Salt Lakes’ free agent and American international, Robbie Findley.
The 25-year-old has also hinted that he wants to play in Europe and is now almost set to leave the club this January. Now, it is apparent that he has found a suitor.
It appears that the American international caught Wolves manager, Mick McCarthy’s eye when he was playing for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757 this year.
Findley has played three seasons with Real Salt Lake and his 29 goals in 91 games that prompted 11 international call-ups from U.S manager, Bob Bradley. If the move materializes, it would be a surprise as it’s very rare for an MLS player to directly switch
to a Premier League team.
MLS side, L.A Galaxy selected Robbie Findley in the 2007 MLS Super Draft and on April 2007, he made his Galaxy debut against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Dallas-c39095 in the 86th
minute. He could only play 9 games for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-Klein-c9022.
The start to life at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-Salt-Lake-c40339 was great for Findley as he made a big and immediate impact in his first season and in his debut, he scored two goals that gave Real Salt Lake its’ first win of the 2007 season.
Although he struggled to cement a starting place, he was still able to score 6 goals in just 16 games. In the 2008 season, he scored 6 goals and had 5 assists to his name. He was vital for the Salt Lake side that made its’ first ever appearance in the MLS
Cup playoffs.
Findley had a chance to play in Europe before as well when Danish side, Brondby IF gave him a trial in January of 2009 but he didn’t secure a contract despite scoring two goals in a practice game.
He shook off the whole disappointment and came back at Real Salt Lake stronger than ever and scored 12 goals that turned out to be the 3rd highest score in the MLS that season.
Although he has made clear that he wants to play in Europe, MLS newcomers, Portland Timbers have selected him in the 2010 MLS Expansion Draft so that if he goes to Europe and if he returns, they could retain rights for the player.
