I know it's hard to get permission to work in Mexico with an FM-3, but I got my visa through marriage to a Mexican citizen and I was told that I since that was the way I got my visa I didn't need permission to work, is that true?

  1. No...you still need a work permit attatched to that FM3.  I live in Mexico and know several American and European women married to Mexican men...and that has NOTHING to do with a work visa...Even if your husband is a Mexican citizen, YOU need a work permit...and to get one you must find an employer who will write a letter to immigration stating he is hiring you for a job he cannot find a Mexican national for...he sponsors your work visa...and your work permit is tied to that specific job.

  2. www.sre.gob.mx

mayb in this web page u can find ur answer

  3. Jessy I always agree with your answers here in the Mexico section so Id like to say hello !

To answer your question - h**l I dont know :)

I assume you are a Mexican citizen by default and w/n need an FM3. The only answer I'd trust is at the local Immigration office. What kinda visa did you get ? I again would think that visa is your Mexican "ticket" and dont need a FM3.

Charlie ,MAY know but she too is retired like me. Link over to her and ask. Shes great !!!!!

Also wanted to comment that you and I are somewhat alike. You left a good job to move to a shack. Not everyone can "do" the Mexican thing - its difficult. I love it here and w/n have it any other way. I turn my back on the poverty here but alot of people could not make it here. You obviously fell in love , married , and moved - not bad.............Beautiful country and with your mate..............You go girl !!!   You have experiences in life that not alot of people ever will. Makes you a better person ......................

I knew Charlie would have the answer :)
