Worth getting used BMW?

Question

Worth getting like a used 03 M3 without warranty? I've been hearing lately that there are a lot of electronic problems in general for BMW's. I would not want to pay the dealership to fix up it up since it would cost quite a lot to have it fix. My real question is, does the e46 M3's have lots of problems?

If you do not have the money, or are hesitant to spend your money,

then an M3 or any BMW for that matter is not for you (specially if it

has no warranty left).

But just to set the record straight, an M3 does not "have lots of

problems", electronics or otherwise. The problem with M3's is the way they are driven and maintained by their owners.

People buy M3 to run them hard......very hard

I've got an '03 540. Recent repairs.......$2200 a/c , $900 radio, dealer says I'm looking at $2500 for an new oil seal at some point. Great cars in warranty, a money pit out of warranty. Beware of a used M3........it will eat your lunch.......my friend

The key word here is "maintenance". If the car has been maintained with regular servicing, oil changes etc., the car will run fantastically.  If the previous owners maintained the car, then they loved it. If they loved it, then they wouldn't let the car fall apart. Thats how BMW's go.
