Worthwhile?

Do you ever feel like your worthless? I am 31, two kids, married 12 years. High School and technical school education. Was in nursing for several years and then got out of it all together. Now I'm an admin in a dead end job for the past 8 years. I've seen others go to college and never work for what they went for anyway. (At my job, a girl has a bachelors in music and is a clerk opening mail and all.) With the economy I wish I went on to college but at the younger part of my life I didnt want to spend all the money if it wasnt what I really wanted to do.

  1. Why don't you pick up a catalogue from your local community college.  The more education you have the better the pay/job.

It is important that you choose a major that is employable!  There is a huge demand for health care positions, especially nursing.  We have over a two year waiting list right now to get into nursing programs due to the nursing shortage.

Talk to an academic advisor, start out slowly....work on that college degree.  You will be a role model for your children....right now my students range from 15 to 50+, plus lots of returning vets....college enrollment is up as people have now discovered you need a college education to find a good job.  Good luck to you!  (college psychology prof)
