Question:

Would a moped be worth it?

I'm from Minnesota and my family has 3 vehicles for 4 drivers. We are thinking about getting a moped, though it can't be over $2000. I know it's cheap, but would getting a moped be worth it with the Minnesota weather and rising gas prices? If anyone knows good dealers in the Metro-Central Minnesota area, that would be great to have as information. Thanks!

  1. That depends on HOW MUCH you ride it.  Here in NYC, almost all order-out deliver people use scooters.  And they clock thousands of miles per year.  A car would bankrupt most small business.

If you get it and ride for only few hundred miles, then that would be a waste of money.

    Good Luck...

  2. I suppose that depends on how much you're willing to tolerate the weather.  I live in Montana and have a 16 mile commute at 30 mph each morning, which is an improvement from my bicycle but I'm still left at the mercy of carpooling when old man winter wakes.  Overall I would say it is worth it but you should know that you will need to put up with some rain, wind, and cold.  If a heated cab is important to you, you may want to consider springing for one of these...http://www.gemcar.com/default.asp
