save the water that comes out of my ac, put it through 3-4 coffee filters and drink it. I have a huge AC that does 34 pints every 24 hours. that's a lot of water and i was wondering if it would be safe to drink it, rather then waste it. thanks.

  1. Yes!  That is the best water ever.  It is better and more pure than  rainwater.  Remember, Gavin Newsom, the long time super socialist mega poofter eco-snob,  used to drink special bottled water flown in from the tropical island of Iwo Jima on an Antinov 124.  All of his PC friends reminded him of his obscene liberal carbon footprint.  Now he only drinks grand Trotsky vodka, imported from France!

  2. p**p

  3. The water could be made safe to drink.  But because the condensation from the cold coils contains a sample of what is in the air, you could potentially get some nasty bugs growing in your water.  Legionnaire's Disease grows in the water traps of air conditioners and can be deadly.

The water could also contain high levels of metals from the coils or contaminants from the air.

Technically, you can make the water safe to drink if you run it though a 0.5-1.0 micron pre-filter and an activated carbon polisher.  This will filter out the bugs.  You may even consider a coarser pre-filter (5-10 micron) to get the bigger chunks out before it screens the bacteria particles.

Coffee filters are incredibly course, and unfortunatly wouldn't reliabily screen out bacteria or viruses, let alone other contaminants that may be present.

I hope this answers your question.

  4. no that water is full of bacteria and fungi not at all safe to drink best to give it to plants as a watering source

  5. your ac coil condenses water and that water stays there and collects dirt and bacteria.  very unsafe idea.  why not just drink out of the tap?  do you really think we're running out of water?
