My brother got in trouble at work the other day for leaving his dog in his car, which was at his job's indoor parking lot. He had the windows down. But still, he got in trouble for this? Do you think it is bad to leave your dog in a car if the temperature isn't high?

  1. That is neglect.  If something would have happened to the dog while he was trapped in the car, your brother would be in more trouble than just neglect.

I've seen people get tickets, fines, and even time in prison for leaving animals in the vehicle unattended.

  2. YES!!!

  3. Absolutely!! Your car's temperature rises like 10 degrees higher inside than the temp outside.

The dog needs plenty of room to run, play, and somewhere to p**p and Pee! And what about water? Hope he at least gave him water.

Plus dogs like to bark when people walk by, I'm sure he was going crazy!

Please tell your bro not to do this again! :(

  4. Yes I think its a bad idea to leave a dog in a car no matter what the temperature. Dogs cannot sweat easily and get very dehydrated quickly. Its not worth the risk as the weather could easily warm up within a short time which could be lethal for the dog.

Not sure of the full circumstances here but if your brother is working and hasn't got care for his dog then he possibly needs to rethink having a dog as its so unfair to leave a dog for long periods anyway.

Hope he manages to sort something out.

  5. Yes because if an animal is hun grey he will eat anything. Also he will eat his own waste which can be deadly.

  6. without water and for extended peroids of time, yes. that is if someone were to report him..

  7. If the windows were down far enough for the dog to stick his head out, it is no problem.  If they were only open a crack, it can still get too hot inside for the dog.  Also the dog should have water.  You shouldn't leave him in there for more than an hour. They get upset and urinate.

  8. if you have to ask if something is abuse, chances are it is.

why would you bring your dog anywhere where you are going to leave him in a car. where i live people get their kids taken away from them for doing that. tell your brother to get a clue.

  9. yea because most likely he left the dog in there with no food or water or any where to do his/her buisness

  10. IS THIS SOME KIND OF SICK ******* JOKE!!!!!!!! YOU FAT ***. IT IS ABUSE YOU CAN KILL THE DOG, IT WILL GET A HEAT  STROKE OR MABY EVEN STARV! YOU SICK ***

  11. YES u never know what could happen! That dog could try to jump out the open window and get hurt plus he has no food or water or a nice place to lay down! Imagine if u were that dog locked in a car all day! How would you feel?

  12. well..............yes no matter how ho it could have sufferd heat stroke

  13. Of course it is an abuse! How would you feel if left for hours in a car with no way of getting out?

  14. yes, if its longer than 20 minutes

  15. If a child can't be left in a car alone, then the same rule should apply to animals.

  16. umm i do think its bad

    only bcaz i love animals

    some people do that

but u know u should never do that to a pet bcaz they need to know they r in good care espically with the weather!

and dogs tend to have to go to the bathroom lol

anywyas its sorta like leaving ur child in teh care when ur shopping in the grocery store for a couple hours maybe 4 or more. and ur child has nothing to do

  17. Yes. Whether the temperature is steaming or not I think it should be illegal. The dog could be hurt and they may not know it. The heat and other weather can hurt him even more.

  18. Well, the dog wouldn't have access to food, water, or an area to bathroom. Obviously, it's not paradise.

  19. Depending on heat and the humidity level on any given day . . . an animal can die in a car in as little as 10 minutes.  How would he have felt if he had come out of work and found his dog dead?

  20. That's bad so very bad. He should of gotten a ticket and given the riot act!.

  21. Of course it's bad! wouldn't u worry about the poor dog? even if it isnt hot, its wrong, the dog could still get hurt.

  22. Um..well...yes. But, why did he bring his dog to work in the first place?

  23. DUH!!!

  24. You shouldn't leave a dog unattended in a car, even with the windows down, because they can dehydrate. I know i can't spell.

  25. yes. would you like to be locked in a hot car with nothing to do for hours?

  26. 75 digress ans hotter it is bad.

  27. well yes, no, idk. depends.

    water, food, bathroom?

and dogs usually sleep all day, but they store more energy than us so when they need to be active, they need to be active, and being in a car doesnt really help.

and what if someone absolutley terrified of dogs walks by and then the dog just suddenly starts barking and growling as they walk by?

what if the person went into shock or something (i doubt that would happen but its still a possibilty) he would still be responsible.

  28. Yes!! it doesnt matter that its an indoor parking lot, it gets very hot quickly inside of cars even when the windows are parked.  The humane society can be called in and they will put some device on the window that will measure the temp of the car, if its over a certain degree a police officer will be called to break into the car and release the animal. Dont leave animals in cars, its abuse!

  29. NO i don't think its abuse. Unless your pet is panicking and uncomfortable then maybe. But like for example my dog likes staying in the car, she would sleep i the backseat behind the seats in the sun and she loved it while my mom worked and she would be in there for maybe 4 hours and be fine. Of course my mom would crack the window and walk her after a while but she was fine.

  30. YES! Poor dog! Do people buy dogs to bore them? You wouldn't leave a person in the car while you're at work, so why leave a dog? Dogs can be very emotional. It could get sad that you left him there all on his own.

Dogs need to be treated well. If you have to leave him when you go to work, don't leave him in the car, ask someone to look after him.

You're asking if it is considered animal abuse, so:

Put yourself in the dog's position. How would you feel?

  31. Why would he bring his dog to work with him?  If he had the windows down, the dog could have escaped or someone could have stolen him or gotten bit if the dog was protecting the car.

Assuming that he didn't know it was wrong and has never had anything happen like this before, I hope he gets off with a warning and never does it again.  If he loves his dog, he won't leave it in the car again.
