Would this make a difference?

Question

When I am fishing for large mouth bass I am fishing in a extremely clear lake and I use a swivel that is gold and silver so that I do not have to tie on my lures every time but I can clip them on easily. Would this tip off the bass that the lure was a fake? Would it just be better and more effective to tie the lure on? Thank you in advance if you can help.

P.S. I am using a deep diving crankbait but also occasionally using topwater lures that no longer float with the swivel unless I give them a constant motion.

The only way to know for sure how the bass at the lake you fish at react to the swivel is too try fishing both ways and see if it makes a difference.

I think it's better to tie on directly. With that being said, I use a speed clip or fast snap with almost all my lures when bass fishing.There are no ultra clear lakes around here, so I really don't know if it would make a difference. I would probably try to use the smallest swivel or snap swivel I can get away with. If it seems like the fish are spooked, remove the swivel, tie directly, and see what happens then.

The swivel could deter the fish, just tie the lure straight to the line, a fluorocarbon leader would also help to stop the fish being spooked.

i previously fished for bass with a swivel and caught plenty of fish but as soon as i stopped using the swivel i consistently caught larger bass.  lose the swivel for a while and see how you do.
