If a NL west team won the world series. After they finish the season under .500

It would be disappointing but I would not say that I would be mad, if a team successfully navigates the Postseason then they deserve to be the Champions, I would be mad at the teams that lost to them more than at them for winning it all.

if it was any other team id be quite impressed that they were able to win the world series after not being able to go .500 during the season.

I wouldn't be mad at all. I agree with an earlier answer that said the season is all about getting to the playoffs. Once you get there, it is a blank slate. It would be unexpected, but I wouldn't be mad by any means.

No.  The regular season is all about getting to the playoffs.  The playoffs are a different type of game.  NL West teams have one goal - beat each other to get a shot, but after that it is all about situations, pitching, and performance.

In a way, a NL West team might be best suited to win the NL since the top three will have essentially have been playing in "playoffs" mode for two months.

When New York Giants or Pittsburgh Steelers won the SB in the past few years despite being the last team to qualify for the playoffs, that didn't diminish from the fact that they did everything they needed to do - (1) find a way to get in to the playoffs, (2) beat everyone else.

Let the best team in October win!
