I would not fight for anything a Government decided was a good cause. The cause is more usually only good for them and nothing they say, I would believe.

There isn't any point for peace. Peace has to come of its own accord. Many conflicts are internal, not international. Those countries have to sort their own problems or else they will get angry at "foreign influence".

Fighting for peace defeats the purpose. If you beat one group, the peace is short, for the losers are sore and bitter. They will fight back. One example is World War 1. Germany was sore at losing, and 21 yrs after WW1 ended, WW2 started.
