  1. well, only if the director took the proper medications

and if she was being monitored at all times

it is a disease i know

but she can work just like the rest of us

if the state gave her a license to run a day care

then i think you can trust the director a little bit

    be diligent

    and watch the behavior

    first sign of weirdness,

    get out!

    :D

  2. absolutely not!

  3. I wouldn't take my child to a day care center at all, let alone one with a bipolar director!

  4. First of all, how do you "know" this?  There are some pretty stringent laws in place that protect the privacy of medical and mental health information.

Second, do you have any idea how many bipolar individuals are out there?  They're doctors, lawyers, businesspeople, grocery store clerks, salespeople, teachers, but are often very talented and creative artists and musicians.

Good to see that the mental health stereotypes are alive and well!

  5. No.  I would never take a chance of putting my child in harm's way.

  6. no chances are that is full of germs and isn't safe.

  7. no way i wouldnt want to tourture my kid lol

  8. If the director is taking the meds as they should be, there should be no problem. Plus they do have other caregivers who would step in if need be.

  9. I think Jennifer L. said it best ......... there are so many bipolar people in this world that you probably deal with them everyday and don't even know it.  I read that one post called a bipolar director, "harms way".  I had to laugh.  How ignorant to assume that if someone is bipolar they will harm a child.  Bipolar manifests itself in so many different ways, that to assume anything about it is utterly ridiculous.   Also, not everyone who has been diagnosed as bipolar needs medication.  It is possible to learn to live and deal with their illness without medication and it is possible to be perfectly healthy IF the person has full control of their bipolar.

    Get a clue, people.

  10. no!  absoutly not!

  11. Yes, as long as they care my child receives is appropriate.

Honestly, at least you KNOW the director suffers from bipolar disorder. A new director might suffer from something worse.

  12. nope...I would never put my kid in daycare...no matter who the director was.

  13. yes, as long as hes using his meds, not all bi-polar people are insane sociopaths

  14. no theres no way i would.

  15. well if they were medicated and continued to take the meds then there would be no problem but in general you would not know as they don't need to tell you. But my kids never went to creche.

  16. If they were properly medicated, absolutely.

You have no reason to doubt that a medicated bipolar person is going to go crazy and drown your kid in a sandbox or anything.

If they give you any reason to doubt their safety, don't send your child, but if the place isn't sketchy and seems safe to you, other than the disordered director, there's no reason not to trust them with your child.

  17. A lot would depend on if the director is on medication or receiving treatment, and how she treats the children, parents, and the staff.  Even if she didn't have bipolar I would still drop by the center unannounced when they least expect it and just observe things for a few minutes.

  18. Absolutely not.  I wouldn't take my kid to any day care it at all humanly possible, but if I had to I would not chose one with a built in risk factor like this.

  19. nope
