Would you wear this to.. ?

i have a christening to go to and im a god mother, is this ok to wear do you think? im going to put some straps on it, and it goes down to my knees.maybe if i put a nice white chunky belt around it ? sorry the picture isnt too clear. :

Also,what kind of shoes ?would wedge look gross ? or flats ?
