I just got a job interview with Coles. They said to bring one written reference. What is a written reference? What has to be on it?

  1. A 'written reference' is a letter written from one of your references (it is usually preferred that it is written by a previous employer) that talks about how great you are.  It should say something about your positive qualities, successes, achievements, etc.  Also, the author of the letter should identify who they are and how they know you.

Don't have your best friend write a letter that says that they 'love you' and you are the 'best person in the world'.  What does this actually say about you?  Nothing good.  Just that you can't get a real letter from a good reference.

    Good luck to you!
