Question:

Wyndham Old Town Alexandria ?

Has anyone ever been to a time share meeting about the Wyndham Old Town Alexandria? If so, how bad were the sales people? I have heard horror stories about timeshare sales, but we would really like to tour the Alexandria. Plus the deeply discounted stay and $50 is great!

Thanks

  1. Yes, we have sat through several Wyndham Fairfield timeshare sales pitches incl Alexandria and the sales people are rather aggressive almost like buying a new car before they finally give you the gift etc.

Short version of long story is that we now make reservations at the nicer hotels with suites when we go out of town bec that is where my sisters book the reservations on family get togethers, and my wife actually signed the Wyndham contract many years ago against my advice and then I had to go back to Wyndham Alexandria to cancel the deal within 3 days and it costs her I believe $50 as stipulated in writing to back out.

The truth of the matter is if you want to stay at Wyndham Fairfield timeshares incl Alexandria, you can do so and stay as a guest by having a winning bid on EBAY under Lodging Washington DC and Virginia and get a better deal without buying their timeshare, the majority of which have $500 annual maintenance. We have done it several times plus when checking in they will ask you to attend the sales pitch again and we have gotten gifts as much as $100 cash but $50 cash for something that will stretch normally like 2 1/2 hours is not really worth the hassle bec your spouse is also required to attend...

Hope the Above Info Helps amd Note Wyndham will soon open a new timeshare in Metro DC at the the National Harbor site on the Maryland side of Wilson Bridge...

  2. Listen to Dvsky...there are great deals on hotels...don't be scared by their posted rates.  I always use Trip Advisor's consolidated "rates"  they snagged all hotel website rates so you can spot a deal at a glance.  I provide a link below for tripadvisor.com.

Those sales pitches can be brutal...and I swear they use subliminal messages, because you leave your wallet at home...but still they make it seem so cheap and worthwhile.  I have friends that would be thrilled to give away their shares and can't.  So listen to him.

Just save your pennies and stay where you want/can.

Zero on zip code 22314 for Old Town.  Red Roof Inn on Rt. 1 is less than 100 a night and is clean and safe and 5 minute drive away if that's all that is in your budget...or get lucky with tripadvisor.  Note that the Fall is the worst for traveller's as its high season.

But still come to Old Town...you will love it!
