X snake in Ecuador?

Question

I just returned from a trip in the rural parts of the Guayas province in Ecuador. Many natives told me stories of the snake they call the "X Snake" which bites workers in the rice fields. They say the pattern on the snakes' backs resembles an "X." Any clue what snake this is?

...they also told me about a green snake that is also known to bite rice field workers. Any ideas?

With a little bit of imagination, Bothrops atrox (Fer-De-Lance or Lancehead) can often look like it has x's. This is especially true for the stronger-patterned younger snakes, which are more likely to bite.

The green one is harder, there are a lot of snakes with green on them in Ecuador.  Could be anything from a green anaconda to a little bitty Amazon earth snake morph.

If you mean a venomous green snake, the first I think of is a morph of the Eyelash Pit Viper, Bothrops schlegeli, but those are only sometimes green.
