I know this doesn't mean much because Canada did not have its full roster (and neither did Russia) but still, this is awesome. I still think that with both teams at full strentgh, Russia would be able to beat Canada. The Super Series were too deceiving, Russia doesn't suck that much.

pretty awesome game. the russian contingent in this country is going to be pulling some all nighters since it's holidays here anyways.

i was thinking about the intensity factor between these teams whenever we meet internationally, especially since our under 18 team destroyed the russian under 18 team, and i was like i know some of us weren't alive in 72, but that doesn't mean that we don't learn about the competition and the history behind the rivalry. anyways good on team russia...although i love hockey canada and want them to win everything, and i love the way they built this team for small ice, i thought russia was gonna upset this year. it sucks, but WE'RE THE #1 COUNTRY IN IIHF RANKING, #1 HOCKEY NATION. and lol we beat out sweden for that. haha. team sweden wasn't that hot this year.

why do the quebecers need to stop ole'ing. frankly i think it's sweet that quebec is full of soccer lovers. haha. being one myself. i only hate it when it's international tournament and all the latin countries are ole'ing the f out of the arena.

all the russians in the arena were singing the anthem...it was so loud. and ov celebrating all over the ice.

i wouldn't mind watching a finland sweden finals, haha cause those guys don't like each other either, and team czech has done better than previously, and they're on the up and up so nope i would mind seeing other teams in the finals. of course i would care more if canada makes it in, but i'll watch either way.

and anyone who's watched us lose wj in halifax knows there's a curse coming. lol.

no the ranking thing was as a consolation prize...because really it does count, and it matters to canadians. haha when i heard that sweden was a more hockey nation than canada or russia, i thought about that for like three weeks. haha really.

nope it's official. they announced it on tsn. haha. yeah i know. bob nicholson will be having an equalizing hernia, from this lost, and the good news about the rankings. i know. hahaha i understand sweden, but really. it puzzled me for a while. you know what's interesting though form watching this tourney and seeing all the family/sibling connections, if someone can find out which country currently has the most family/sibling connections in the nhl, cause finland, sweden, czechs, and russians are coming up with a lot of hockey families.

It was a very good game and the Russians deserved to win it after Canada came out flat and deflated in the second half of the third. The Super Series was nothing but a cash-grab though. Oh, well...it's good to see the rivalry still being as intense at least.

And Quebec really needs to stop that "Ole" c**p that was being sung in the first period. Every time that's sung, the home team loses. It also makes us look like we're too cocky. The Russian team should never be underestimated, especially with that much firepower and goaltending.

It was Russia's first World's win since what? 1992 or something? Yeah, they are not exactly a powerhouse. Finally have a decent goalie though.

They are currently the 5th ranked country by IIHF rankings. They may move up a spot or two.

Both teams were missing some talent....Canada was missing the big time goalies though.....Brodeur, Luongo or Turco and it was probably different. Leclaire and Ward are not exactly Canada's best. Nabokov is the best Russia has to offer though.

I was concerned because my husband (former Russian citizen) picked up a story on the Russian internet today about how the police in Montreal stopped their bus, arrested the bus driver, and those guys had to haul their hockey equipment several miles to the rink on foot.  If it is true, then it probably gave them even more incentive to win.

My stinking satellite TV doesn't give us those games, and we don't get Canadian TV any more either. Blyad Sooka!
