Yet another relationship question...?

My boyfriend and I have been together for about 6 months. We tell each other "I love you" and all that blah, blah, blah. Everything is just about perfect. However, he sent a text to his ex-girlfriend (or whatever she was) and it said "I miss you..." He said it doesn't mean anything (he has no desire to sleep with her or whatever) and that it's more like a friend thing. He then told me "I love you baby and I'm with you." In your opinion, am I a sucker?
