What is appropriate, yet still stylish for a mother of 26 to be wearing???

my sister's 23 and has a 3 year old. when she's not at work she's usually wearing nice jeans && a nice blouse. also, the layered look is always good for any age. just wear whatever you think looks good and is comfortable. but like someone else said, toddlers do like to pull on clothes so just be wary of low neck lines and such. you don't wanna flash anybody when you're picking up your kid

Ah! I am in the same boat. I don't feel comfortable dressing "s**y" while I have a toddler. He tending to grab the neck of my shirt to pull up on me!  I don't want to look like I gave up either! I think structured and tailored clothing is the best way to go. I like the layered look and love jeans but not mom-jeans!

I think wide legged pants look great with a fitted top. I love browns paired with bold bright jewel tones. I think the skinny leg is so overrated and so high school!

Check out stores like the Gap and JCPenney. They have a wide range of young adult appropriate fashions. Also, remember these classic pieces, which will always look more grown up:

If you want to wear that comfy ribbed tank top from Old Navy, top it with a soft cashmere cardigan. It's especially chic if the tank is very brightly colored, and the cardigan is a neutral. Think lemon yellow and soft gray.

Jeans should sit above the hips, fit well through the butt, not have overly embellished pockets, and not be too snug. Never buy pants with pleating in the front, they always look awful. Trouser-style jeans are both comfortable and versatile, and are pretty much always "in".

Keep a "grown up bag". Invest in a purse, something that does not carry diapers, snacks, books, or toys. It is purely for your own belongings, and should be made with high quality materials. Even if all you're wearing is jeans and a white tee, awesome shoes and a great bag will keep you pulled together and adult looking.
