Don` know about African/Asian callers, the one I have repeatedly received is from a woman called Rachel with an American accent. I wish there was a facility encompassed in the `PRESS` numbers for giving her some welly in no uncertain terms...

  1. why do they persist ? Cos some have just fallen off the Christmas tree

Its well known there is a sucker born every minute

  2. there hoping u have just fallen off the xmas tree, and there are people out there who believe theve won and press the number and get charged £10 a minute

  3. What, I've won a holiday? Wow, and I didn't even know I'd entered. When do I get my tickets? Where am I going?

  4. One day it'll be the real deal, and you'll have thrown it away.

  5. These parasites and we all know where the majority are from, Asia and Africa really are the worlds stupidest con artists but what they prey on are the old, sometimes they get lucky by having an old person respond to them.  Its a game of pot luck to them hence the persistence with well known scams and rip offs.  They are just scum who don't deserve to draw oxygen.  Maybe we in the West should pull our aid  next time a natural disaster strikes, give us the criminals that the respective governments knowingly harbor or they can go boil their own p**s for drinking water!

  6. Ive had this and they normally ring as Im just sitting down for a meal...

Im just waiting for someone to invent the POKOPHONE....get a phonecall like that, press the hash key, and a finger comes out of the mouthpiece at the other end and pokes them in the eye. sweet justice...

  7. I know, I get these too!! grrrrr

Phone the Telephone Preference Service and register your line. It means that spam call like this will be blocked. If any get through, tell them you're with the TPS and they hang up sharpish - companies that get caught are fined!

    TPS: http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/

  8. These automated messages keep having 'conversations' with our answering machine while we're out.

Somebody must fall for it though otherwise how would they make any money?

I'm on the Telephone Preference Service as well and if you get a human being calling you to sell you something, they do get scared off by mentioning TPS.

  9. (lmao) WIND em up Jay (I do BIGTIME!!)

  10. Whoever invented telemarketing must be a complete and utter moron, how many people actually go, oooooooooooh, wow some automated message is disturbing me over dinner let me go out and buy something? Just as pop ups, surely these calls MUST be counter productive?!

It is so annoying and due to my annoyance with those calls I nearly hung up when Thomas Cook phoned to tell me I had won a trip a few weeks backed- which turned out to be the actual real thing (won a photo competition!)!

So not only is it annoying but it could also really cost you if you actually do win something and hang up assuming....although I guess they do send stuff through the post as well, but either way, sort of ruined the enjoyment a little bit, rather than jumping up and down and squeeling my response was more a sarcastic 'Oh really?!' Lol, poor woman on the other end of the phone probably thought I was insane...

  11. Some people must believe it, or they would not keep making these calls, maybe 1 in ever 100, eh?

  12. i know what you mean....cold calls just simply suck!!!!!!!!!!

remember this and to everyone else " YOU GET NOTHING FOR NOTHING"

It was on the strength of persistant cold calls day and night i got rid of my home phone, i just use my mobile now and all the numbers i need are on it, if a new/strange number rings i simply do not answer.

A lot of people say that they need a phone line for the internet etc!!

Rubbish....i have a "3"plug in module and my connection is 100% perfection, and i live in newquay!!!!!

So the moral of the story folks, is ditch the landlines and their extortionate prices and just use our mobile!!!!!

  13. so annoyin  i know but how is this a question
