  1. They are egg layers.

When they decide to spawn, that`s when she`ll lay.

  2. They don't exactly get preggo. they lay eggs. but yeah, when her belly gets like a pinkish white, that's when you should move her and the males to a seperate tank. then that's where they'll spawn. =]

i'm trying to breed mine too, my female is pretty big but her belly isn't pinkish white. well, good luck with your Zebra Dainos!!! =D

  3. Zebra danios are egg-layers.

When certain conditions are met (Water temperature and such) the danios will spawn at first light.

They will scatter the eggs all over the tank and hatch in 2-3 days. ADULTS CAN AND WILL EAT EGGS AND FRY. You can put adults in a seperate tank for breeding and, when they're done, put them back - or you can even just let them spawn in their main tank. Your call, really.

When fry hatch and start swimming, feed them liquid fry food. In about a week, they'll be big enough to eat finely crushed flakes or a specially formulated, dry fry food.

Here's a place on breeding zebra danios, if you need it:
