Question:

Regmagnetizing Magnets?

Well I have a grinder. And it comes apart in 3 peices. The top is magnetized. I decided to put the peices of the grinder into boiling water to clean it. And I'm almost positive the magnet isn't as strong as it was before I boiled it. Is their anything I can do to make it more magnetic.

  1. If it was coated with magnetic tape or coating, you may have inadvertently removed some of it in the boiling process.

But, also, heat can sometimes weaken some natural magnets.

Try this: Take another magnet, find the poles for both magnets so that they push against one another, then move their magnetic fields together. (Don't actually rub the magnets together or you might scrape them and don't move them around too fast or you could excite a mild electrical charge.)

This sometimes realigns a magnetic field and can make your magnet stronger for a while.
