Regular Season Matchups Closer to being Cancelled due to Lockout -NHL Update
Fans might not want to think about it, but the more they try to cancel the noise of a lockout potentially lasting for a full regular season, the realer the reality actually gets as the 2012-2013 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season is in serious threat
of being cancelled, one game at a time.
Many players are continuing to work out, including some high level names like the Pittsburgh Penguins, but some analysts are coming out now and terming that all to be useless unless they sign on to different clubs overseas, like many have already done.
"I think everybody's preparing ... like we want to start on time. [Adams] says right now that things aren't good, but we all know that all is takes is a little bit of movement and, hopefully, we'll get something done," Pittsburgh Penguins Ben Lovejoy said
according to the Post Gazette.
The NHL and NHL Players’ Association have failed to work out anything significant in this regard up until now and do not look like they will be gaining any ground any time soon, something we saw after the Tuesday meeting ended without any progress just two
hours in.
Both sides spent the whole weekend going over minor issues and even managed to reach an agreement on some, but it is quite clear now that until and unless the major issues are addressed, a lockout will continue to prevail and the regular season games just
might have to be cancelled soon.
Already having missed the preseason, players around the hockey league, like Pittsburgh’s Lovejoy, are ready to get at the regular season since like them and many around the NHL, summer has been a time to train and get better and not just take time off to
rest.
"I think we could go very quickly," he said. "Guys don't take summers off now. Guys work really hard all summer. We've been here since mid-August playing hockey.
"You could tell us, 'You have a game in four days.' It would be a rush, but it would be a rush for everybody. I think guys would love that, be excited and ready to go."
