Question:

Regular light in PAR base?

I recently installed a recessed PAR (30?) base in my attic for some additional lighting. I was wondering tho, due to the extra heat of the PAR spot light, could I a regular 60W incandescent bulb in this fixture? Or even better, a CF bulb? (despite being base-up)

Thanks!

  1. You might be able to use a standard incandescent bulb. sometimes the recessed fixture is rated specifically for a aPAR,Incan,etc..Just remember that even a regular incandescent will produce as much heat as a PAR. A PAR just directs the light outwards unlike a reular incan which doesn't. You can use a Flourescent as long as the fixture is not on a dimmer. In that case find a dimmable one. Either is a wise choice. Better quality light,Less heat, and less power consumption.
