Question:

Regular periods while breastfeeding?

I had a baby boy May 16th. I got my period July 11th and had an IUD put in during that cycle. They told me to watch for heavy cramping around the time of my period. Well, I should technically have my period right now but I don't and I don't feel like I am getting it soon. Do you have regular periods while you are breastfeeding or is it random?

  1. While breastfeeding it takes quite a while for periods to return to normal.  It seems like 3 months would be plenty, but lots of women don't return to their old cycles for 6-8 months!  If you've got the IUD, no worries about unexpected pregnancy, just let your body work its way back into its old groove.

  2. I had my son August 24th and I got my period back December 24th.  They have been coming every month until about May.  I didn't get one in May,had one in June, didn't get one in July, and not sure about this month yet.  I thought I was pregnant when I didn't get one in May, but I talked to my mom and she said when you are breastfeeding, even if you do get your period back you still may skip them.

  3. I never had a period while I was breastfeeding!  From my understanding it is normal not to have regular periods!
