Regular treadmill running vs. certified trainer treadmill programs.?

i was just wondering if regular treadmill running at your own pace 4 35 min. was better than the certified trainer programs 4 35 min.

  1. Is the question whether running on the treadmill at a steady pace is as good as running using one the built-in programs?  

    Running at a steady pace builds endurance.  For most people this is all you need.  So yes, 35 minutes will be a good workout. With the built-in programs you are depending on the treadmill to have a preprogramed workout designed or you. Unless you really understand distance training, most likely the workout is just junk.

    Personally, I never use the built-in programs when running on a treadmill.  Either it is manual where I set the speed and incline or it is manual interval where I set the work speed, work time, recovery speed and recovery time.  My workouts are pretty specific so the built-in programs just don't work for me.
