  1. Exemptions from Registration

Sailboats 12 feet and under without a motor.

Manually propelled boats not equipped with a motor or sail.

Any boat covered by a valid certificate from another state or federal government that has been in this state not more than 60 consecutive days or if this state is not the state of principal use.

    Licensed documented fishing vessels.

    Sailboards.

    That is from this site;http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/es/enforc...

If you paddle, OK, if you have propulsion (trolling motor included), gotta register and have it showing. The above site tells all! Illinois registration is good in Wisconsin

  2. chill out...all you need is a PFD for everyone on board..get out of the police state, head up north, plop your boat in the water and relax!
