Rehan Poncha and Rahul Chokshi win Men’s 400m IM A and B finals: 7th Singapore Long Course Nationals
Indian swimmers, Rehan Poncha and Rahul Chokshi won the Men’s 400m Individual Medley A and B crowns respectively, at the 7th Singapore Long Course Nationals, held in Singapore, from June 21-26, 2011.
Poncha posted the fastest time of 4 minutes and 32.19 seconds to secure the gold in the 400m IM, while Zheng Wen Quah captured silver in 4 minutes and 32.49 seconds. M Akbar Nasution earned the bronze medal in a time of 4 minutes and 32.89 seconds.
Earlier, Poncha finished his distance in the 400m IM preliminary race with a time of 4 minutes and 44.37 seconds. After the race, he was really excited and pleased with his individual performance in the event, as the win also elevated him to top place in
the national swimming rankings of the current year. Poncha claimed that victory will definitely help him a lot in future competitions.
Rodrick Luhur ended his race fourth with a time of 4 minutes and 42.13 seconds, while Guan Ji Ren wound up fifth with a time of 4 minutes and 44.39 seconds. Kei Hyogo settled sixth in 4 minutes and 44.86 seconds. Zhi Hao Jeremey Tan earned seventh place
honours with a time of 4 minutes and 52.72 seconds, whereas, Jialiang JU finished eighth in 4 minutes and 56.72 seconds. Tan and Ju were not pleased and satisfied with their individual performances in the championships.
In the Men’s 400m IM B final, Rahul Chokshi stood first with a time of 4 minutes and 55.49 seconds. He had posted a time of 4 minutes and 58.71 seconds in the preliminary round. The win in the 400m IM B final also moved Chokshi to top spot in the national
swimming rankings.
Jun Rui Amery Chow was placed second in 5 minutes and 00.97 seconds, while Fang Yi Lim finished third in time of 5 minutes and 01.92 seconds. David Teo earned fourth place honours with a time of 5 minutes and 04.93 seconds, while Quan Ren Barry Koh wound
up fifth in 5 minutes and 09.36 seconds.
