Question:

Reiki in NY, NY?

I recently had an experience that's sparked my interest in reiki and I'd really like to take a Reiki I class. I've read a lot on the subject and a few years ago I had a treatment. I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a good training center in Manhattan. Also, do you think it's important to familiarize myself by getting treatments before I go for training?

Thanks!

  1. You are wise to take treatments first. In fact, I would recommend looking in your local spiritual publication or the Internationan Center for Reiki Training or www.byregion.net for a Reiki Master teacher in your area. Interview them about their philosophy and how they teach.

If you find a couple that you like, go to them for at least one treatment each. Take your training from thw one whose work you like the best.

Also, I would not recomment wither a Master teacher who charges $10,000 or one who teaches for free. I would work with a skilled professional who values their time and expertise enough to charge for it but who cares enough about the greater mission to keep the cost accessible to the average person.

I would not recommend taking your first training online or at a distance. Once you have gotten to Master Level in your first form of energy healing, distance attunements are more manageable but you want a firm foundation. I would also not recommending doing more than one level of Reiki at a time.

It is best to practice a while at each level before moving on the the next. It is hard for the training to be thoroughly assimilated all at once and the changes in your energy are best taken gradually.

Your attunement and adjustment process will be easier if you take some treatments before your attunements, you will also have a better sense of what you are learning to do.

Once you are attuned, especially if you are serving others, it is wise to continue to receive regular Reiki treatments. One, to keep yourself well healed and replenished and two, to be in integrity. It is best to be doing yourself what you are wishing others to do.

  2. Call me Captain Obvious; but I'd look in the "Village Voice" first.

  3. I live in CA so can't refer you to any place on the East coast.  Getting Reiki treatments for yourself (a great idea) will not "familiarize" you with Reiki and you may get some good discussion from your individual practitioner.

When you take your Reiki 1 you will receive the "attunements" necessary to start using Reiki for yourself and others.

I am particularly interested in animal Reiki (that was my Level 1 training) so the whole household of cats, shelter animals, etc. get it almost daily.  I do a self-heal Reiki every evening before I retire.

  4. There is a group called The International Association Of Reiki Practitioners   aka    www.iarp.org   and do a search for people in the NY area.  There are a lot there.

I joined the IARP group because they  provide Insurance as well as a link on the internet for people looking for Reiki and other Alternative Health modalities.

Reiki is great, I agree. I've been teaching it for over 13 years and love the benefits I see in people.  If you go to my website www.reikisanantonio.com you will see pictures on my events that we do all over town. One of the main groups we have worked with is the Cancer Therapy Research Center at University of Texas Health Science Center.

  5. Don't waste your life on this embarrassing nonsense.
